Kamen temeljac je postavio Karlo IV, 9. jula 1357. u 5:31. Ovo vreme su izabrali dvorski numerolozi, re\u0111anjem brojeva dobija se simetrican broj 135797531! U pocetku se prosto zvao Kameni most, tek nekoliko vekova kasnije dobija ime po svom graditelju.<\/p><p>U toku gradnje u malter su dodavana \u017eumanca kako bi konstrukcija bila postojanija. Karlov most uspe\u0161no odoleva poplavama ve\u0107 vi\u0161e od 600 godina tako da mo\u017eda i ima nesto u tim \u017eumancima.<\/p><p>Krajem 17. i po\u010detkom 18. veka most je ukra\u0161en sa 30 statua. Jan Nepomuck\u00fd, dvorskog sve\u0161tenika koji je ba\u010den sa mosta 1383. Po legendi tada\u0161nji kralj ga je ubio zato sto je svestenik odbio da oda kraljicinu ispovest.
